tED Renewable Energy/Efficiency Products Study  - June 2010

The big revelations about distributors:  More are carrying solar products; fewer are looking at wind products; and surprisingly, fewer are interested in adding a LEED certification specialist than in 2009.  Of note, 2009 results are incorporated to contrast and compare what's changed in the last year.

The 'Big 3' Takeaways:

  1. Interest and carriage of solar has grown. Slide 23 shows significant growth in selling solar panels and the products that support them.
  2. Interest in wind has declined.
  3. Surprising results include a significantly lessened interest in adding a LEED certification specialist to distributor offerings.

There were four primary objectives for this study:

  1. Determine which renewable/efficiency products electrical distributors currently sell
  2. Determine which renewable/efficiency products electrical distributors plan to sell in the future
  3. Determine what value-added/energy efficiency services electrical distributors currently offer
  4. Determine which value-added/energy efficiency services electrical distributors plan to offer in the future
